Next Scheduled Workshop:
BASINS/HSPF Training Workshop
April 19-22,2011 Cheyenne, WY
The U.S. EPA’s Hydrological Simulation Program-FORTRAN (HSPF) is the primary watershed model included in the EPA BASINS modeling system. HSPF is a comprehensive watershed model of hydrology and water quality, simulating land surface and subsurface hydrologic and water quality processes, linked and closely integrated with corresponding stream and reservoir processes. BASINS/HSPF is a major tool for watershed and TMDL assessments across the US.
The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) is partially sponsoring this workshop which has been endorsed by EPA, and which will be led by expert instructors from AQUA TERRA Consultants and RESPEC Consultants. The workshop will consist of approximately 50 percent lecture and 50 percent computer exercises, and will focus on the application of HSPF through EPA’s BASINS system.

Looking for hands-on training for your HSPF and BASINS Applications?
Or, do you need training in other modeling tools, techniques and strategic planning?
AQUA TERRA conducts workshops around the globe to train individuals and organizations on the use of the Hydrological Simulation Program - FORTRAN (HSPF), the Better Assessment Science Integrating Point and Nonpoint Sources (BASINS), and other model tools and techniques. Workshops are customized to meet the technical needs of the attendees.
Examples of an HSPF Workshop Syllabus:
Training on the use of the Hydrological Simulation Program - FORTRAN (HSPF) is available for students, engineers, scientists, and planners in water resources and water quality management. Topics addressed in the workshops typically include HSPF background and development, simulation algorithms, data needs, data management capabilities, and a thorough examination of the HSPF application process. This latter topic covers development of a modeling strategy, types and sources of data needed, identification and development of critical model parameters, the model calibration/verification process, evaluation of management alternatives, and interpretation of results.
