Aqua Terra Home Page PRZM-3 Expertise

For well over a decade, AQUA TERRA Consultants has had a working relationship with the EPA National Environmental Research Laboratory's (NERL) Center for Exposure Assessment Modeling (CEAM) that has allowed us to develop extensive practical experience in development, maintenance, and application of their modeling software distribution products, including the Pesticide Root Zone Model (PRZM-3). AQUA TERRA has developed and/or prepared for distribution numerous products for NERL (formerly AERL) to be distributed by CEAM including PRZM-3 and its predecessor versions, the PRZM-based decision support system PATRIOT, and the bridge codes for PRZM-2/HSPF and PRZM-2/WASP. AQUA TERRA prepared PRZM-2 for distribution in fall 1994, was the development contractor to EPA Athens for PRZM-3 in 1995, and prepared the PRZM-3 User's Manual, as well as the current visual materials used by EPA to present PRZM-3 workshops, in 1997. AQUA TERRA offers the strongest familiarity with the entire PRZM-3 modeling system outside the EPA.

While our strong scientific and programming familiarity with PRZM-3 is a valuable resource for our clients, AQUA TERRA has equally strong experience in the model data preparation/evaluation, model application, and results presentation activities. Projects that AQUA TERRA has performed include:

-Exposure assessment for aldicarb in Florida using the PRZM Model

-Estimation of groundwater concentrations resulting from herbicide application to power transmission rights-of-way in Maine using the PRZM and AT123D Models

-Assessment of the fate and transport of DDT in a Texas watershed using the PRZM Model

-Development and testing of a methodology for assessing the risk of pesticide use in the Chesapeake Bay using a linked PRZM/HSPF modeling system
