Job Description: Senior Level/Office Manager (Environmental Modeling)

AQUA TERRA Consultants is seeking a highly qualified senior staff member to assume both technical management and business development responsibilities in opening a new office in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. We specialize in providing consulting services to government and industry, with emphasis on mathematical modeling of water quantity and quality.

Typical technical project activities include watershed and surface water modeling, pollutant transport/fate assessments, groundwater contamination studies, exposure assessment, data management, and software development. Successful applicants will combine a technical background and experience in computer modeling with training in engineering, hydrology/hydrogeology, or soil science. A M.S. degree plus 10 years professional experience, or a PhD with 5 years experience is required for this senior-level position. Experience with watershed and surface water modeling software (e.g. HSPF, BASINS, WMS/SMS, CE-QUAL-W2, EFDC) is required.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to grow with our firm, who enjoys working on state-of-the-art technical challenges in environmental modeling, combined with client interaction, staff supervision, and business development activities. This individual will initiate our Washington D.C. area office, provide liaison with our government clients (primarily EPA and USGS) and local subcontractors on existing multi-year contracts, pursue business development opportunities for both local and government work, coordinate with other AQUA TERRA offices, and pursue staffing activities for local projects.

Job Description: Environmental Engineer/Scientist Positions Available

AQUA TERRA Consultants, a nationally known environmental consulting firm, is seeking additional professional staff at all levels for its offices in Mountain View, CA and Atlanta, GA.  We specialize in providing consulting services to government and industry in the area of water resource management and analysis, with emphasis on numerical modeling of water quantity and quality.  Typical project activities include watershed and groundwater modeling, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, pollutant transport and fate assessment, groundwater contaminant studies, exposure assessment, data management, and software/expert systems development Successful applicants will combine background or interest in computer modeling with training in soil science, hydrogeology, or engineering.  Desired qualifications for the available positions follow.

Staff Engineer

• B.S. in engineering (civil, chemical, agricultural) and/or environmental sciences, or equivalent experience
• Course work and interest in pollutant movement through soils, groundwater quality, and/or surface water hydrology
• Academic and/or project experience in environmental modeling
• Two or more years of related experience is desirable but not required

Project Engineer

• B.S. in civil engineering or environmental science plus at least 5 years of relevant experience or a Ph.D
• Course work and research/project experience in pollutant movement through soils and groundwater quality
• Academic and/or project experience in pollutant transport modeling

Senior Engineer

• M.S. in civil engineering or environmental science, plus at least 10 years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. plus 5 years experience
• Project management and business development experience
• Research/project experience in pollutant fate/transport modeling in ground water, soils, or surface water
• Excellent communication and supervisory skills
